360 degree pan shot taken at 5pm this afternoon (Friday 1st Oct) from Narara
airstrip,
about 3km north of Gosford.
http://www.acay.com.au/~adderley/wx03
pan2.jpg is the same as pan1.jpg, but reduced in size.
The storm never quite made it to Gosford, but Pt Clare looked rather wet.
I have some more pan shots taken about half an hour later and an mpeg movie
showing the whole cloud.

Hey everyone
A treat today. After seeing congestus drift southwest of us
for three days, at around 12 noon, a small storm drifted here thru the cover of
some middle level cloud. That started the days preceedings with storms at
12noon, 2pm 3:30pm, 6pm and finally at 8:30pm.
The storms in the middle of the day had very frequent
thunder taking out phones for 30 minutes ( and about 2 minutes after getting off
the net). And we received short heavy downbusts of approx. 5mm each time
with 15mm tonite in 20 minutes.
A great week in Sydney, probably mroe action in the last
9 days than in the entire storm season of 98/99.

Some big black cells in Lithgow last night (thursday) poured rain there
around 6pm with some lightning. It was a great sight down there.
143 mm in Blackheath for September. It is sooo green up here and my
garden is loving it! Very humid this morning for here too.

Hi all,
Holiday time for me - the Simpson Desert awaits - so have to unsubscribe for
a while (six weeks or so). Should be a great place to photograph storms.
Catch you when I return.
All the best

Adelaide fans are going through the so-called "recovery mode" ritual.
Seriously, the storms have hit and the radar has been kept busy for most of
the day. There has been some red on the radar so I expect reports of hail.
I hope the guys are out chasing and get some of their own action. Sydney
has earned the name as "storm hoggers" lately.
Now Sydney's west especially around the mtns have some activity at the
moment which indicates the atmosphere has become more and more unstable
throughout the afternoon in readiness for tomorrow I would say. There is a
moist E airstream. Stratus is streaming and will soon cover the view of the
large cu and cb. Oh well, we will see what happens tomorrow.

Hi all,
There's an alternative site to get soundings when the uni of wyoming is
unavailable... Its the "Storm Machine" page at
http://www.stormchaser.niu.edu/machine/
There are the "Sounding Machine - Text" and the "Sounding Machine-
Images", and if anyone knows how to get the forecast soundings to work,
let us all know :-)
Cheers,
Rosco.
